Precious metals processing

A dedicated carbon-in-pulp processing facility supporting our own responsible production in Geita.

Processing

Efficient, responsible recovery

CXC Upstream owns and operates a dedicated precious metals processing facility in Tanzania's Geita region. The plant uses carbon-in-pulp (CIP) technology to recover gold and other precious metals from ore delivered from our own Katoma Gold Mine.

CIP circuit

Seven-tank recovery

The facility is built around a seven-tank CIP circuit designed to process tens of thousands of tonnes of ore per month. Ore moves sequentially through the tank sequence, with gold recovered onto activated carbon, before elution and smelting into doré on site.

Chain of custody

Ore to doré in-house

Keeping processing in-house gives CXC Upstream control over quality, recovery, environmental performance and turnaround time. It also allows us to move directly from ore to doré under a single chain of custody, reducing third-party dependencies and ensuring full traceability across every ounce produced.

Quality assurance

Assayed on site

Every batch is assayed on site, with recovery rates and environmental performance monitored continuously. The facility is designed to operate to international standards for responsible mineral processing, supporting secure tailings management and rigorous quality control.

Ownership of the processing chain is central to CXC Upstream's vertically integrated model. It underpins our long-term development strategy at Katoma Gold Mine and ensures that the value created from our mining operations is captured within the Group.
